Many of the OP-TECH’s decontamination and remediation activities result from a response to an emergency situation by its experienced emergency response teams. These emergencies include transportation accidents involving chemical or petroleum substances, fires at chemical/industrial facilities or hazardous waste sites, transformer fires or explosions involving PCBs and other unanticipated events.
OP-TECH’s involvement with these engagements include the initial rapid response, containment of the contaminant, sampling for analytical testing and assessment, neutralization and treatment and collection and transportation of the substance to an appropriate treatment or disposal facility. A significant portion of OP-TECH’s experience with emergency response services is derived from its prime position on the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Standby Emergency Response Services contract that it has maintained since 1992.
