This site is located in New Fairfield, CT; it was a former shopping center that housed an dry cleaning operations that released an unknown quantity of dry cleaning solvents in particular tetrachloroethene(PCE) prior to 1992.  Prior remedial actives were conducted concurrently with site redevelopment actives from March 2003 to June 2004. An groundwater treatment system was placed on-site to treat the contaminated water and eight well pumps were installed; however, the ground water treatment center failed to perform to expectations. 


OP-TECH dismantled and decontaminated the existing treatment plant and its components, including the disassembly of the eight groundwater recovery well components.  Seven of the extraction wells were converted to monitoring wells.  OP-TECH installed five 4' well vaults and three 4' diameter manholes that at varying depths.  An new concrete pad for the new treatment plant was constructed and an 10 foot high 70 ft long wall was constructed to visually protect the plant.  An new extraction well and five new well pumps with 1,700 feet of new conveyance hose from the pumps to the new treatment plant.  Site restoration included both mulch and seeding.
