TEAM BASED SAFETY PROGRAM
Starting in February 2011, OP-TECH began to implement the DuPont Safety Training Observation Program (STOP™) program. The STOP™ program is the most popular and successful self-implemented, behavior based safety training program used in general industry and construction. The objective of the program is to prevent workplace injuries. The program teaches employees workplace safety auditing skills for observing people while they work, with steps to reinforce safe work practices and correct unsafe acts and conditions. STOP™ is a top-down, job-focused interactive approach that helps employees think about safety, allowing it to become fully integrated into what they do every day. There are currently over 30 OP-TECH employees trained in the DuPont STOP™ program. These employees are conducting weekly observations and are having a positive impact on the safety culture. The goal is to complete the DuPont STOP™ training for all OP-TECH employees by the end of 2011.
Charles Morgan Chief Executive Officer commented:
“We are confident that full implementation of the STOP™ program will help us towards improving the safety culture at OP-TECH.
