Management Overview

OP-TECH Environmental Services, Inc. (OP-TECH) is committed to taking all appropriate measures to protect the health and safety of our employees in the performance of assigned work, giving full regard to evolving industry practices and regulatory requirements. OP-TECH continuously strives to achieve excellence in health and safety performance and to be recognized as leaders in accident prevention. All employees have the responsibility and accountability for safety performance through active involvement in safety initiatives. Employees are encouraged to raise safety issues and are empowered to make changes. Our ultimate target is ZERO injuries.

OP-TECH maintains and implements a comprehensive Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) management system that focuses on worksite analysis, hazard prevention and control, management commitment, employee involvement, and training. The primary elements of the program include a detailed job safety planning program, near hit reporting, daily safety toolbox talks, written procedures, and a training program that focuses on knowledge, skills and understanding. The system is based on the framework and philosophy of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

OP-TECH ensures that all new employees receive safety orientation prior to starting work. Employees are trained to never take short cuts, using the correct tools and PPE for the job task, and recognizing and report hazards and near hit incidents. Employees must be trained and participate in medical surveillance as determined by project specific and regulatory requirements. On many projects, site specific health and safety plans are developed to ensure that hazards and controls are properly identified and communicated to employees prior to and during the work. A Site Safety Officer is identified on all projects. Project Managers and Site Supervisors are required to conduct weekly field safety inspections.
